Chaos
Scandinavian Journal for the History of Religions
-
Chaos is an academic journal in the history of religions . The journal is rooted in the tradition in the history of religions, methodologically and theoretically grounded in empirical, philological, and comparative studies, and covers all religions and religious expressions in every part of the world, in both the past and the present. Articles offering different perspectives on religion will be considered if, upon evaluation, they are deemed of historical relevance to the study of religions.
Chaos intends to support, promote, and contribute to the development of the tradition in the history of religions, as well as to broaden the awareness of studies in the history of religions in wider circles.
The academic discipline of the history of religions has a long and influential research tradition with significant international reach and relevance, with a strong Scandinavian presence, not least due to fruitful collaborations among Scandinavian researchers. Chaos was founded in 1982 as a Danish initiative, but shortly thereafter, the editorial team was expanded with Norwegian representation, and today, Chaos is established as an inter-Scandinavian collaboration based in Denmark, but with editorial teams also in Norway and Sweden.
Chaos is published with two issues per year.
Articles are accepted in Danish, Swedish, and Norwegian.
Chaos is peer-reviewed – all articles published in Chaos undergo peer review by two independent experts
